Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza!

Well, ok maybe not extravaganza since we bailed on the would be carving extravaganza that was happening at the Nature Center on Friday night for a more personal experience in our back yard.

Ok that and realizing I was 8 days post baby and maybe didn’t want to walk around the dark forest with a baby strapped to me for 2-3 hours had something to do with it.

Anyways. Pumpkins + Neighbors + Backyard = Rockin’ good time.

We had some paints to get started with and Lucy made sure that Veronica’s pumpkin had a nice ‘V’ on it. Of course she’s the third born so I don’t have a picture of her finished pumpkin, but I think you can use your imagination. It’s a pumpkin with a white letter V on it. Lucy also wrote on the ground the first letter of everyone’s name and then put their respective pumpkins on top. Just to make sure everyone knew who’s everyone’s was.

There were some tears when Rocky went ahead and painted all of the pumpkins instead of just his own, but this was quickly curtailed when a wet rag solved all the problems.

Our neighbors, Roshna and 2 year old daughter Myriam, came over with their pumpkins and carving tools as well. Which we were all excited about, especially Rocky who says, “Myriam is my best friend.” Cue the “Awwwww”.

Lucy drew something she wanted carved out and then went ahead and carved it (with just a little help from Dad when the going got tough). Rocky stuck to painting and Dad carved his out. Neither kid loved the “gooeyness” of the inside of the pumpkin. Come on kids. Get over it. Get you hands in there! Embrace The Gooey.

We have the pumpkins on our front stoop. Which I’m sure will soon all be eaten by the squirrels. The squirrels in this neighborhood are pretty aggressive. Note: I really dislike squirrels…honestly they are just rats with fluffy tails. Roshna says that she expects there to be a squirrel army around here within the next 5 years.

And now everyone’s favorite part of these posts, time for pictures. And will you look at that. There are two pictures of the third born. See we aren’t forgetting about her…yet. She’s so quiet and chill that Jason is convinced that we are going to forget about her and leave her somewhere in the future. Don’t worry V, we are going to try our best that that doesn’t happen.

What fun! Pumpkin carving and decorating at its best.
Want to borrow Mismo to keep the squirrels away?

Yes! Although even our old lady cat was chasing the squirrels around our backyard! No one likes the squirrels!
